Observations Made During the Experiment
for Treatment of Acute Respiratory Viral Infections
with Concentrated Liquid Extract of the Noni (Morinda  citrifolia) Fruit

March 2005, Lechitel Health Center, Sofia, Bulgaria

Three physicians are conducting this experiment here at the Lechitel Health Center in Sofia, Bulgaria.  All patients were administered the Nutramedix Noni extract that was recently approved for sale by the Bulgarian Ministry of Health.  50 patients are currently participating in the experiment, and the laboratory data will be available soon.  Here are their preliminary reports.

Dr. Ivan Maslev, “Lechitel” Health Center:

Most of the patients presented with complaints and symptoms typical of the common cold or a mild form of influenza: inflamed (reddened) eye membranes, increased secretions from the nose, sore throat, aching muscles, chills and moderate fever up to 38.5oC.

The objective condition evaluated during the initial visit allowed me to prescribe bed rest and Noni liquid extract at a dosage customized for every particular case.

All patients from this group experienced a marked improvement. On the third day since starting the Noni they already enjoyed an excellent general condition and vital tone, and went back to their work.

The second group included the patients with more severe forms of influenza whose clinical picture was predominated by persistent headache, cough, inability to swallow and appearance of rashes on the visible mucous membranes similar to herpes simplex. That required for the patients to remain isolated at home and follow the due recommendations for warming up procedures in addition to taking the Noni liquid extract. They were examined and tested daily for assessing the dynamics of the objective indicators (fever, throat and lung status). These patients’ symptoms also quickly subsided.

The use of Noni is advisable for symptoms of the flu and colds. It is also very cost-effective compared to the treatment with conventional medicines.

Dr. Radosveta Gueorguieva, “Lechitel” Health Center:

In December 2004 the patient V.M.M. (74) from Sofia came to our medical center with the following complaints: general weakness; fever varying from 37.8oC in the morning to 38.5oC in the afternoon; running nose and cough with secretions; headache and sore throat. He reported having had these symptoms for a couple of days, as well as chills and muscle pains throughout the body.

We made the following tests: full blood count with differential, testing of secretions from the nose and throat, and serological tests for influenza A and B antibodies. The blood count was otherwise normal but tested positive for presence of flu antibodies.

The patient started taking Noni and in just three days the symptoms of the flu subsided and his condition improved.

Another female patient suffered from similar complaints: headache, rhinitis, muscle pains, cough and nausea, fever (37.8oC), sore throat and weakness. The serological test for influenza antibodies proved positive. With Noni her illness was successfully treated as well.

There were other patients showing symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections: fever, cough, sore throat, pain in the chest, weakness, etc. Their blood tests proved negative for flu antibodies but their condition also improved with the use of Noni – the fever and the cough subsided.

These observations indicate that Noni has a positive effect on the flu and the acute respiratory infections – as a means for prevention as well as after the disease onset.

Dr. Lidia Gugutkova, “Lechitel” Health Center:

The staff of the “Lechitel” Health Center also took part in the experimental research on the use of Noni for the treatment of respiratory viral infections. We were offered a choice to use either Noni or conventional drug treatment. Everyone preferred Noni.

There were four patients that experienced a sudden onset of the symptoms, with chills, muscle pain in the entire body, sore throat, headache and rhinitis. Two of the patients suffered from fever (37.2oC-37.6oC). All started by taking higher doses of the liquid Noni extract – 3 x 20 or 3 x 30 drops during the first 24 hours - and then 3 x 10 drops in the next few days. In all four patients the symptoms disappeared in a couple of days.

We then performed a test of the secretions from the nose and throat plus a serological test. All the results were negative. In one of the cases the respiratory infection coincided with pain symptoms due to a chronically exacerbated plexitis of the right arm. The pain faded away by the fourth day after starting the use of the Noni extract, without any other treatment.
